Question to MovingPlace

from Roshelle H. in MD - Monday, August 14, 2017

Hello, My husband and I are moving from Hagerstown, MD to Irvine, CA the end of October. We are trying to find a company with the best price to ship a one bedroom worth of furniture and two cars. One car is a Honda Civic and the other is a Toyota Avalon. Is there anyway you can give me a price and explain how the process works as far how long it will take and other details please? Thank you!

MovingPlace Response

Hi Roshelle, For cross country moving, the best option is for us to ship your cars on an auto transporter and your furniture on a long-distance moving truck. We would arrange to have the moving van brought out for a couple of days for you to load up and, during that time, have your cars picked up by the auto transporter. That way, everything will move at basically the same time. This will be the most cost-effective way to handle your move. Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Beth R. in OK - Monday, August 7, 2017

We are moving from Oklahoma to Florida. I have been boxing items the last several months & moving to a storage unit. I will need to load the storage unit & the house, is this possible, loading from 2 locations? They are approximately 2 miles apart.

MovingPlace Response

Hi Beth, For cross country moving, we only have the driver availability to do one pick up and one drop off. So, you would need to have everything in one location, or, we can leave the truck for a couple of days so that you can shuttle the goods to the moving van from a secondary location. Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Tania V. in CO - Tuesday, July 11, 2017

Hi there ! Really need a low-cost move of a kitchen table, mattresses and a bunch of plastic bins ! I need to drive my car with me and my kids in it . So I can pack and unpack just need someone to drive the truck having a heckuva time trying to find a service in Grand Junction ,Colorado to Fort Mill ,South Carolina can you help? !

Hi Tania, We are probably a good option for your cross country move. We can bring a truck to Grand Junction for you to load and then transport everything to South Carolina for you to unload. We can get you a small space on one of our trucks so you only pay for the part you order, not the whole moving van. Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from M L S. in GA - Sunday, February 26, 2017

Relocating cross country for a job. Would prefer not having to make two trips. I'm driving my personal vehicle. Can you save me some of the expense? M L Spence

MovingPlace Response

Hi ML, Yes, we can certainly help you. The moving vans that we use are 8.5ft wide, 9ft tall and either 28ft or 53ft long (depending on need). We break the trucks down into smaller compartments using movable walls, so you can order as little as 4 feet of space on the truck all the way up to a 53ft tractor trailer. For Cross Country, Long Distance moving, it is gives you the option to move even the largest household. Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Lesly T. in WA - Tuesday, February 21, 2017

Do you come to the house to give an estimate on how many boxes and how much room will be needed in the trailer to move?

MovingPlace Response

Hi Lesley, We do not do in-home estimates. Our service is cross country, self service moving. So you are renting space on a moving truck. We can work with you on the phone to give you a good idea of how much space you will need on the moving van, but it is up to you to make the final determination of how much space to order. Some folks order extra space so that they know they have extra room, others order as little as possible to save money. Either way, we are a very economical way to move. Movingplace

Relocating from West Palm Beach to Sonoma, CA with a 10 day driving vacation from load (last weekend of April) to unload - will the additional days in between be an issue. 8 x 10 area required.

MovingPlace Response

Hi Michael, For a cross country move like that, you can count on 6 or 7 business days of transit. We can work with you on scheduling to get two free weekends in there as well to extend the delivery without costing you any extra money. In the event that you need more time, we have very competitive daily and monthly storage rates. Those vary depending on where and when you need the storage, so it would be best to give us a call at 800-876-6839 to nail down that pricing. Thanks! Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Lidia T. in CA - Monday, November 7, 2016

Hi, how much will be to move cross country - a 3 bedroom house and 1 car from Suisun City, CA to Miami Fl?

MovingPlace Response

Hi Lidia, We specialize in cross country moving. When moving from state to state, we have a couple of different options when it comes to shipping your car and furniture. We can also get rates to ship the furniture on a moving van and ship the car on a cross country auto transporter. I see that you have already filled out our quote request form, so we will send you rates both ways. Thanks! Movingplace

We have a 30x15 storage unit with items which we would like moved from Gig Harbor, WA 98332 to Washington, DC 20008. Thank you.

Question to MovingPlace

from Doris W. in OH - Saturday, October 31, 2015

Do I have to be concerned about the truck drop off once the move is completed? Are your drivers bonded?

Question to MovingPlace

from Michelle S. in CA - Sunday, September 7, 2014

Hi, we are moving from CA to FL. We are currently living overseas so our stuff is in storage in CA. We want to move it into storage in FL while we are in the country in September/October. We have a car, major appliances (fridge, washer, dryer), some furniture items like a chest of drawers and shelves, otherwise just a lot of boxes. The limiting factors are: 1) we will be in CA for a week mid September and again about a week begin October, so we won't be able to have a quote done long before we leave. 2) Seeing as I will only be getting the storage in FL after leaving CA, when we load the truck I won't know the exact destination, just the general area. Will it be possible to get a "general" quote, eg. so much for the car, so much for x amount of cubic feet (I can give you an estimate). Thanks

MovingPlace Response

Hi Michelle, We can certainly help you with this. We have customers every day whose needs change and need us to be flexible on things like timing and delivery addresses. If we have 72 hours notice, we can generally get you a moving truck for a relocation anywhere in the country. Please give us a call at 800-876-6839 as soon as you get into the country and we will get to work on getting you the best pricing and service for your move. Thanks! MovingpPlace Web Team

If you are moving within the same state, we might be able to help you, but that service has limited coverage. The best way to quickly check our availability is to give us a call at 800-876-6839. Thanks! Movingplace

Where do you offer services? We are moving from Los Alamos, NM to Pasco, WA and I haven't found a place that offers services to Pasco, WA yet.

MovingPlace Response

Hi Kellee, We handle cross country moves to almost every location and specialize in handling the "hard to service" locations. We can help you with this move. I saw the quote request that you put in on the website and just emailed you some pricing for your move.

Question to MovingPlace

from Neida E. in FL - Friday, December 7, 2012

I am moving from Orlando, FL to Oceanside, CA in January. How long will it take for the moving van to deliver my stuff?

MovingPlace Response

The long distance moving trucks generally travel 500 miles per day. So it would take approximately 6 days for the truck to arrive in California. If you are a piggyback shipment (a small shipment added to a moving van that is already headed that way) it may take a couple of extra days to account for stops along the route.

Question to MovingPlace

from Bryan H. in CA - Saturday, September 22, 2012

How long does it take for you to move from California to Florida? Can I put my car on the same truck when moving that far?

MovingPlace Response

The drivers generally travel around 550 miles per day. There will be some variance to that if you are sharing your moving truck with another customer (because the other customer may need to load or unload between your pickup and delivery). Rest assured, everyone gets a private compartment on the moving van and your household goods are not intermingled with anyone else's. And yes, you can put your car inside the moving van with any Movingplace shipment. Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Jet W. in NY - Saturday, July 28, 2012

I am moving a small amount of stuff across country. Do you guys handle small moves?

MovingPlace Response

If you have a small move going cross-country, there is no better service than the you load- we drive services offered by Movingplace. Most people can handle loading and unloading their move, but don't want to drive a rental truck across country. Fill our our quote form on the right hand side of this page and see how inexpensive this moving option is.

Question to MovingPlace

from Darren A. in NY - Thursday, May 24, 2012

How long will it take to move from New York to Florida?

MovingPlace Response

The transit time for a moving van is usually 500 miles per day. The more space that you are taking up on the moving truck, the faster your shipment will arrive. Remember, if you only have a small shipment that is moving, they will have more than one customer on the moving truck and may have to make pickups and deliveries in transit. Movingplace
