In most service locations, that moving van will be equipped with a loading ramp (to easily access the moving truck), a bulkhead wall (to safely separate your goods from any others on the truck), and a dolly. Question to MovingPlace

from TERESA C. in CA - Friday, April 22, 2016

My daughter is moving from Aliso Viejo Ca to Bellingham Wa. She has maybe 3 or pieces of furniture like a desk, tomside tables and maybe a file cabinet. She says she will only have 10 small Home Depot boxes. She also needs to move her 2001 Toyota Echo. Need to know how to go about and get a quote if you can do it. Thank you for yiur help.

MovingPlace Response

Hi Teresa, Yes, we service most points in the "lower 48". Judging by the list that you have here, your daughter would probably only need the smallest size on one of the moving trucks. The trucks are 8.5ft wide and 9ft tall with the smallest length that we sell being 4 feet. If you fill out the quote request form and select the studio apartment size, one of our relocation specialists will email you a quote shortly. Thanks! Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Danielle P. in CA - Friday, April 22, 2016

I need to move my car and stuff cross-country from San Diego, CA to MA. All the stuff I am taking will fit in my car. Will you ship a car with personal belongings inside it?

MovingPlace Response

Hi Danielle, When moving your car, it must be empty for safety and security reasons. If you don't have much stuff to ship, we recommend going to the UPS store and shipping it. You will find that to be the most inexpensive way to do it. We will be happy to help you move your car, but it must be empty. Thanks! Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Jane K. in MA - Tuesday, April 19, 2016

Hello, My daughter is moving from Lynn, MA (zip 01904) to Madison, Wisconsin (zip 53719) for a new job that is slated to begin on 6/6/16. We plan to leave Boston on 5/27. She needs to ship a car (subaru wagon) a 4 person dining room set, a queen bedroom set, a couch and some other miscellaneous furniture and clothing. Could you give me a guesstimate on cost, and when the car and furniture, etc. would need to leave boston to arrive either on the 28th, 29th, or 30th of May? Thanks

MovingPlace Response

Hi Jane, This is exactly the type of move that we do best. We can move your daughter's car and furniture. I would not recommend moving the car and furniture on the same truck in this instance because you would need to rent the whole moving van to do this, and it would not be economical to do so. I see that you have already filled out one of our quote forms to get an estimate. One of our relocation specialists will email you shortly with prices for your move (if they have not already done so). Thanks! Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from rwdluvbird s. in CA - Tuesday, April 19, 2016

I was planning on renting a 15 foot truck and moving approx 450 miles north. I need someone to drive the truck. I have very little stuff. 2 qn beds, a coffee table, a micro and about a dozen boxes. What would be the best way to do this? I cant find people to load or drive the truck and I am not able to drive three vehicles at once.

MovingPlace Response

We provide self-service moving, meaning we arrange for a moving truck to be brought to your home, you load it, it is then transported to the destination where you unload it. We do not have driver-only services. I don't think there is a company that provides that type of service simply because it would be impossible to insure things.

Question to MovingPlace

from Sig G. in PA - Thursday, April 14, 2016

I am downsizing from a 4 bed house and moving across country (Philly to Newport Beach). I most likely may only move 2 beds rooms, 2 sofas, 2 chairs and a small amount (half a pickup truck load) of household items. I also want to move a car. It would be great for it all to arrive at the same time but looking for ideas. Thanks.

MovingPlace Response

Hi Sig, We can certainly help you. As I mentioned on a previous blog, it is probably best to ship the car and furniture separately to minimize expense. You are teetering right on the edge of it making sense to rent the entire moving van and put everything on the same truck. If you will give us a call at 800-876-6839, we will give you pricing both ways - with the car and furniture on the same moving van and with the car going on an auto transporter (at the same time, but on different trucks). Question to MovingPlace

from Sandra W. in CA - Thursday, April 14, 2016

I am moving my 2 bedroom household from Sacramento, CA to Kalamazoo, MI, I have furniture, a car, and 6 large in house trees. Whats the best way to move all this?

MovingPlace Response

If you only have a small amount of furniture to move along with a car, it makes the most financial sense to split the shipment. By that we mean moving the car on and auto transporter and then moving the furniture on a moving truck. We can coordinate both of those things to happen at the same time so you are not inconvenienced. You would only want to move the car and furniture on the same moving van if you have enough furniture and household items to warrant renting an entire tractor-trailer and putting everything in one truck. Question to MovingPlace

from Stephanie B. in PA - Tuesday, April 12, 2016

HI movingplace, my family and I are moving from PA to AZ and were wondering how much it would cost to move. We have a 4 bedroom house with a lot of other stuff. Do you have any price range and what you would recommend getting for this big of a move?

MovingPlace Response

Hi Stephanie, The size of the moving truck that you will need depends on what the "lot of other stuff" is in your move. If it is a 3 car garage full of stuff that you cannot fit a car in, you should probably get pricing for a full 53ft moving van. If it is a couple of outdoor furniture pieces, you might be able to go with 24ft of space on one of the moving trucks. If you will give our office a call at 800-876-6839, we will help you make a good choice for your shipment size and get good pricing for your move as well. Thanks! Movingplace
