How Does MovingPlace.com Provide the Best Interstate Moving Estimates?

Movingplace blends the convenience of full service moving with the value of a rental truck. You load, we drive, you save. Why risk driving a rented moving truck across the country or pay the high price of full-service moving? Take control of your move and peace of mind in the process. Movingplace LLC, (License #MC807665) will arrange for a moving truck to come to your home. In most service locations, that moving van will be equipped with a loading ramp (to easily access the moving truck), a bulkhead wall (to safely separate your goods from any others on the truck), and a dolly. You Load. We Drive to your new home where you unload. There are options to have up to 3 days for loading and 3 days for unloading. Our moving truck service is simple and, best of all, inexpensive when compared to full service moving!

Question to MovingPlace

from Chris A. in IN - Wednesday, May 17, 2017

How long will a move from Valparaiso, Indiana to Flagstaff, Arizona take? Do you drop off and/or deliver on weekends? I have a 2 bedroom apartment. Can I move that on a shared moving truck? Thanks!

MovingPlace Response

Hi Chris, It will take about 6 days for us to move your stuff from Indiana to Arizona. We can work out dates so that you know when to anticipate arrival of the moving van at both origin and destination. Unless you are renting the entire truck, all of our shipments are on shared moving vans. However, we normally only do one household goods shipment on each moving truck. Here is how it works... The truck is empty when we bring it to your home. You load your stuff up against the front wall of the moving van and work your way back. When you are done loading, a bulkhead wall goes up to separate your stuff from anything else that we load. We take the truck back to a local freight terminal and load boxed and crated goods on the back to fill out the rest of the space, hence your "shared moving truck". Once we have a household shipment on board, your goods stay in our carrier's possession and are not left anywhere unattended (ie. at another customer's home). Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Linda S. in FL - Wednesday, May 17, 2017

We are moving from Tallahassee FL to Anaheim CA. I would like to ship my Smart car and furniture and boxes for about 0.5-1 room. Would we be able to put everything into one container? About how much would it cost? Or would it be cheaper to ship the car and furniture separately? Thank you for your help, Linda

MovingPlace Response

Hi Linda, It may seem counter-intuitive, but shipping your car on an auto transporter and your furniture in a moving van (separating the two) is actually cheaper than putting them all on one moving van. The cars can be moved rather inexpensively on an auto transporter and that offsets the added expense of putting it on a moving van. Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Chris K. in CO - Thursday, May 11, 2017

I'm looking to do a self service move from Michigan to Denver CO. I have had a full service mover out who says that it weighs around 4000 pounds? What are my options?

MovingPlace Response

Hi Chris, Self service moving is different from full service in that we charge by the amount of space that is used on the moving truck, not the weight of the shipment. This takes most of the guesswork out of your pricing. We feel that as a consumer, it is darn near impossible to figure out how much your shipment weighs and can set you up for a nasty pricing surprise. But, you can measure out how much space you are ordering and know in advance whether or not the stuff that you are moving will fit in that space. Give us a call and we can help you figure out how much space you may need for your self service move at 800-876-6839. Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Matt L. in FL - Tuesday, May 09, 2017

I want to move to Seattle and I have two cars and some personal stuff but not a whole lot of furniture. Can I put my stuff inside the car?

MovingPlace Response

Hi Matt, We get this question a lot. When moving a car and furniture, we put the household items on one moving van and the car on an auto transporter. Cars that are moved on auto transporters must be completely empty. We will get you plenty of space inside the moving van so that you do not need to load the car down. Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Sydney W. in GA - Saturday, May 06, 2017

Hi, I am moving to upstate NY from middle GA after I get married. I will only have a bed, a small sectional, a desk, some shelving units, a TV, and then miscellaneous boxed items and small appliances. We also have two cars we need to transport. Is it possible to have one car towed behind a truck holding our belongings while my husband and I drive the other car? Also how much space do you recommend for our stuff? We've never had to make such a big move before.

MovingPlace Response

Hi Sydney, Our trucks are the big tractor-trailer type, so towing a car behind them is not an option. We can either load the car inside the moving van with the furniture (very expensive), or we can put the car on an auto transport truck and the furniture on a moving van (much cheaper). As for the size of the shipment, with the stuff you have listed above, we would quote about 6 feet of space on the truck. The trucks are 8.5 feet wide and 9 feet tall inside (with 6 feet being the length and being the variable). If you need more space on moving day, we will give you the price per foot and it is available for you to purchase extra space if you need it. Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from David B. in NV - Saturday, May 06, 2017

I have 2 vehicles and a 3 bedroom house to ship from Dayton NV to Hamilton OH. What would be the best option for me? Thanks

MovingPlace Response

Hi David, To move your cars and furniture, we would recommend you splitting your shipment up into two parts to save money. The cars will ship on an auto transporter (the big trucks that haul 7 or 8 cars at a time) and the furniture will move on a big moving truck. You can put the car and furniture on the same moving van, but the cost is really high, so we recommend moving them separately. Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Griselda B. in MI - Saturday, April 29, 2017

We have a 26ft bumper pull trailer that will be loaded with off-road vehicles. We need this transported from Cass City, MI to Desert Center, CA between May 8th & 9th. It will then be transported back to MI the 10th or 11th. Please let me know if your company could assist with this transport. If so, please provide a quote for this service. Thank you and I am looking forward to hearing from you soon!

MovingPlace Response

Hi Griselda, We provide long distance moving services on moving trucks, we do not have towing services for other peoples' trailers. Sorry! Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Joette C. in TX - Saturday, April 29, 2017

How quickly would I receive my car and furniture?

MovingPlace Response

Hi Joette, The transit time for moving your furniture and car will vary based on how far you are moving. A general rule of thumb is that the moving trucks will travel 400 miles per day on average. When you book your move, we will not only schedule the pickup, but also the delivery! We take the guesswork out of moving. Movingplace
