Question to MovingPlace

from Kimberly A. in NY - Tuesday, October 17, 2017

Hello, I'm requesting a quote for a shared moving arrangement. I don't need to move until August 17, 2018 from Brooklyn, N.Y. to Monterey, CA. I have 6 solid pieces of furniture 1 42inch flat screen tv, a small DVD case, tempered glass tv stand, papasan circular chair with foot stool and cushion and approximately about 20-25 boxes. I will drive my car and as much belongings I can fit in the car as possible to California. Again I would like to get a quote for a shared moving arrangement across country. Thanks.

MovingPlace Response

Hi Kimberly, I see that you filled out our quote request form as well. You should have already gotten an email with the pricing for a shared moving truck. Please let us know if you have any questions or if we can help in any way. Thanks! Movingplace 800-876-6839

Question to MovingPlace

from Ethel S. in GA - Saturday, September 30, 2017

Interested in a piggy back move to CA. Cost and how much advance notice?

MovingPlace Response

Hi Ethel, Unless you order the entire moving truck, all of our moves are on a shared moving truck. When the truck comes to your home, it will be empty. You will load right up against the front wall of the truck. Once you are done loading, a bulkhead wall goes up to separate your goods into their own compartment. We have the truck taken to the local trucking terminal where boxed and crated commercial freight will fill out the the rest of the truck. We never leave your goods unattended in front of another customer's home! We need about a week's notice to be able to schedule a move on a shared moving truck. If you want to rent a whole tractor trailer, we can usually do that with 3 day's notice. Movingplace

MovingPlace Response

Question to MovingPlace

from Holly B. in MI - Friday, August 18, 2017

My daughter will be moving in late August from Lambertville mi to a studio apt in Oakland CA. We're driving out in her car together with as much stuff as we can fit, but she would need to get her fullsize bed, couch, two dressers, and a kitchen table and chairs out there. Is it possible to just rent space on a truck already going out there to make it more affordable. She's 23 and just starting her first adult job, so money is tight

MovingPlace Response

Hi Holly, We can certainly help you with a shared moving truck. Each customer gets a private compartment, so there is never any mingling of goods. Also, the moving truck is never left unattended with anyone's stuff on it. Please type "shared moving truck" in the comments section of the quote form and one of our representatives will email some pricing to you. Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Karen B. in WA - Tuesday, June 27, 2017

I have a 1 large piece of furniture and a few boxes to move from Battleground, WA to Phoenix, Arizona. Do you offer a shared moving truck option, where I could add these things to someone else's move when there is room in a truck?

MovingPlace Response

Hi Karen, We can make you the first load on the moving truck. We would bring the truck to you and you would load all of your stuff into the "nose" of the trailer (against the front wall). A bulkhead wall then separates all of your items into the front of the truck. We will then load commercial goods, boxed and crated freight, into the back part of the trailer to offset the cost of your move. In essence, all of our moves are on shared moving trucks unless you rent the entire van as an "exclusive use" unit. Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Chris A. in IN - Wednesday, May 17, 2017

How long will a move from Valparaiso, Indiana to Flagstaff, Arizona take? Do you drop off and/or deliver on weekends? I have a 2 bedroom apartment. Can I move that on a shared moving truck? Thanks!

MovingPlace Response

Hi Chris, It will take about 6 days for us to move your stuff from Indiana to Arizona. We can work out dates so that you know when to anticipate arrival of the moving van at both origin and destination. Unless you are renting the entire truck, all of our shipments are on shared moving vans. However, we normally only do one household goods shipment on each moving truck. Here is how it works... The truck is empty when we bring it to your home. You load your stuff up against the front wall of the moving van and work your way back. When you are done loading, a bulkhead wall goes up to separate your stuff from anything else that we load. We take the truck back to a local freight terminal and load boxed and crated goods on the back to fill out the rest of the space, hence your "shared moving truck". Once we have a household shipment on board, your goods stay in our carrier's possession and are not left anywhere unattended (ie. at another customer's home). Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Kimberly G. in DE - Wednesday, March 15, 2017

I need help moving a one bedroom apartment and two cars. A 2006 Chrysler 300 and a 2006 Ford Mustang GT. Which option should I choose ?

MovingPlace Response

Hi Kimberly, You should select the "One Bedroom" size for your one bedroom apartment move and then add the make and model of the cars to be moved in the comments section of the quote form. We can put the furniture on a shared moving truck (you get a private compartment on it) and the cars on an auto transporter to save you some money Of course, you can also call us at 800-876-6839 and we can give you a quote instantly over the phone. Thanks! Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Jacque K. in FL - Wednesday, January 11, 2017

I am looking at moving a 2 bedroom apartment from Florida to Georgia. Could you give me a rough estimate of price, and do you work on Sunday's?

MovingPlace Response

Hi Jacque, This would be a good move for a shared moving truck. We can give you the front part of a moving van. Once you load, a bulkhead wall goes up to secure your goods and separate them from anything else on the truck. We would then take the truck to our freight terminal and load boxed and crated freight on the back. The truck is never left in front of someone's house and stays in our possession the entire time that a household shipment is on board. As for pricing for your move, please fill out our quote form or give us a call at 800-876-6839 as pricing changes with the seasons so we don't post prices in the forum. Thanks! Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Hazel S. in AZ - Saturday, October 8, 2016

Hello, I am moving to Grand Island, NY from Phoenix, AZ on Dec. 17. How long will the trip take? Do you put more than one family on the truck? Hazel

MovingPlace Response

Hello Hazel, It should take about 6 business days to move your furniture from New York to Arizona. For our standard service, the moving truck is brought to your home empty. You load up against the front wall of the truck and work your way back. Once you are done, a bulkhead wall goes up that blocks your stuff into the front of the moving van. We then take it to a freight terminal and finish filling the truck with boxed and crated freight... so, there is generally only one household moving customer per truck. We do not remove your goods from the truck and your stuff is never left unattended in a place where someone could access your goods. It is a very safe way to move. Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Gloria P. in FL - Wednesday, October 5, 2016

Hello. I would like to know the cost for 12' truck space for a long distance move with driver to move from 33137 Miami, Fl. to 20109 Manassas VA. Thank you.

MovingPlace Response

Hi Gloria, This would be a good move for our shared moving truck service. If you will fill out our quote form and put "piggyback move" in the comments section, we can get pricing for you to get your own 12ft compartment on the a moving van. You would load it, the driver would take it to Virginia and put it in front of your new home where you would unload it. That should be very economical in our system. Thanks! Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Nancy G. in MD - Sunday, September 18, 2016

We have about 1 1/2 - 2 rooms of furniture and some boxes to get from MD to Denver . Any cheap ways to get the stuff there ?

MovingPlace Response

Hi Nancy, We can work your move onto a shared moving truck for a "piggyback move". Each shipment gets a private compartment on the truck and once a household shipment is on board, it is never left unattended at another location.. so you have a safe and secure way to move a smaller shipment. Question to MovingPlace

from hank l. in CT - Monday, August 8, 2016

Need to move contents from small one bedroom apt from Danbury , Ct to Phoenix in mid September. Student relocating.

MovingPlace Response

Hi Hank, We can help you with smaller shipments like this by sharing a moving truck. These "piggyback" moves will give you a much smaller space on the moving van in which to load and will save you a lot of money. Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Robert M. in CT - Thursday, July 28, 2016

Is it possible to rent just space on the moving truck? I don't mind waiting a few days before i receive the house items. I am moving from New haven to DC. Thanks

MovingPlace Response

Hi Robert, Yes, we can handle just about any shipment, large or small. You do not have to rent an entire moving van when using our services. Using a shared truck is a great way to save money when moving. Also, each shipment on the moving trucks that we provide is in its own compartment, so you don't have to worry about your stuff getting mixed up with anything else on the shared moving van. Thank you! Movingplace

Question to MovingPlace

from Christa G. in CA - Saturday, June 18, 2016

We are looking to move a Vespa, 2 Bedrooms of furniture, and maybe some book shelves from NY to LA. Is there a way we can join a moving van that has extra room for a discount?

MovingPlace Response

Hi Christa, That is, in essence, what we do. We bring a moving truck out to your home. You have a private compartment in which to load. We then take that moving truck to a freight terminal and load boxed freight onto the rest of the truck, that way, we are never leaving your household goods unattended in front of someone else's house. When we get to the destination, we drop the boxes at the local freight depot and bring the moving van to your home for you to unload. We never leave your household goods unattended and we do not move the stuff around inside the trucks. It stays right where you load it until you take it off at destination. Movingplace
