What Is SmartProtection™?
SmartProtection™ is optional coverage you can purchase to protect your belongings from accidental damage during the loading or unloading process.
It applies only while the moving crew is onsite and actively handling your items—not during transit—and offers significantly higher coverage limits than the standard $0.60/lb default.

What’s Already Included with Every Booking
Here’s what you’re already getting at no extra cost:
- $1,000 Service Guarantee: Built-in protection if a mover fails to deliver the agreed-upon service, and the issue can’t be resolved directly
- Standard Repair Coverage: Coverage of $0.60 per pound for damage that happens while movers are loading or unloading your items
That’s a solid safety net—but SmartProtection takes things a step further.

You can add SmartProtection anytime up to 24 hours before your move. If your plans change, you can cancel up until the movers arrive and get a full refund.

What’s Covered (and What’s Not)
Covered:
- Accidental damage that occurs while the movers are onsite
- Items being loaded into or unloaded from a container, truck, or residence
Not Covered:
- Any damage in transit
- Pre-existing damage or normal wear and tear
- Electronics, cash, jewelry, collectibles, or pianos over $1,000 in value
- Fragile or improperly packed items
- Weather-related damage (humidity, temperature, etc.)
- Lithium-ion battery issues
SmartProtection is not insurance—it’s a coverage benefit defined and administered by Porch Moving Group, offered at our sole discretion.
How to Make a Claim

Tell Us Immediately

Send Us Documentation
We’ll Handle the Review
We will review your claim in good faith and a timely manner. If approved, we’ll either:
- Repair the item using a provider of our choice
- Replace it with a similar item
- Or reimburse you with a cash payment, based on current value and your coverage tier
