Packing is not included by default in a local-full service move. Full-service movers will typically do basic furniture disassembly and protect your larger items when they move them into the truck, but won’t pack your items in boxes unless you choose “packing” as an additional service you would like to add to your move.

All movers (aka "Moving Service Providers") that offer full-service moving on the MovingPlace platform are fully licensed for full-service moves and carry commercial liability coverage. Every MovingPlace order also includes our Standard Repair Coverage, which protects your items at $0.60 per pound, up to $10,000.

You can purchase an optional coverage called “SmartProtection™”, which protects your items from accidental damage during loading or unloading, with three different tiers of coverage available.

Your card will be authorized (not charged) for the full amount 48 hours before your move. That means the payment is pending but hasn’t gone through yet. The charge is only completed once your move is finished. If you’re booking a last-minute move (like one scheduled for tomorrow) your card will be authorized right after booking.

Free cancellations up to 48 hours before your move start time. If you cancel fewer than 48 hours before the job start time, a fee of 10% of the order total will be charged. If you cancel fewer than 24 hours before the job start time, a fee equivalent to two hours of the service provider's hourly rate will be charged. Cancellations within one hour of the job start time are not eligible for a refund.
