If this review were based purely on service quality, it would easily receive 5 stars—the crew does exceptional work.
However, proceed with caution regarding billing and job estimates, as you are responsible for paying the full quoted amount regardless of actual time spent. Hire-A-Helper provided the original estimates, though they did issue a two-hour credit after a complaint.
Estimates were significantly inflated on two separate occasions:
First Job: Billed for 40 person-hours (4 people for 10 hours), but completed in 22.5 person-hours (5 people for 4.5 hours).
Second Job: Billed for a 4 person-hour minimum (2 people for 2 hours), but completed in 1.5 person-hours (3 people for 30 minutes).
While the craftsmanship is top-tier, the estimation accuracy and rigid billing structure are major drawbacks. Carefully review all quotes before committing.

Other than they were 20 minutes late, once they got to work, they were great. They took care to be careful with the furniture and the difficult staircase. They did a great job of packing the container. I would definitely recommend this crew.

The movers themselves were lovely, but it took twice as long as expected (and paid for) and it was only a small one bedroom apartment. Part of that time was to disassemble furniture, so I understand, but it was still longer than I anticipated. They also did not put the parts for the furniture together super clearly (like we’re currently missing a sofa leg). They also made me buy all of my own moving supplies (blankets, plastic wrap) which I have never had to done before and which added significant expense. Overall, it was OK, but between the supplies and extra hour, my $300ish move became closer to $600. Again, the two men who did the move were lovely but I think the company could perhaps use some more structure and systems.

I cannot sing my praises enough for the three wonderful gentleman who came to pack our 16 ft POD today. I was having a panic attack before they came because I was confident everything wouldn’t fit. At first they weren’t 100% confident it would all fit since we had a bunch of odd shaped items and a 14.5 ft kayak, but they were upbeat, hard workers and even told me I could pack more boxes if I wanted to. They fit everything in that we needed and more! They took their time, handled everything with care, and were super positive. I wouldn’t hesitate to hire MoveMakers NE again!
