We are a large family so I scheduled 4 movers for 5 hours. The morning of the move two movers showed up on time, but informed me that there was a problem with the other two movers schedules and the dispatcher was working to figure it out. An hour later two guys showed up to help, but one had a broken arm (he only stayed for a bit). I also overheard the crew complaining that they might not get to do a second job that day because of my move. I know we are a large family, but I have moved many time and that is why we were completely organized ahead of time, boxes packed, stacked, and labeled, furniture taken apart, and I made sure to reserve 5 hours ahead of time. After the rough start, most of the packing went well. The initial two guys handled all of the heavy furniture with ease and care. The crew packed things tightly and efficiently. They definitely have packed PODS before. But to speed things up on their end they started packing the second POD before the first was finished which meant the lead packer was in one POD and the others were in another. The difference between the packing of two PODS was noticeable. The second POD had wood furniture packed against each other without padding leaving some rub marks on the wood and tears on the leather seats. A couple bookshelves were scratched up, some drawer knobs were knocked off, and a few boxes and totes that are not weight bearing were packed on the bottom. Lastly boxes were placed on the piano in a way that broke the sheet music stand on it. With three guys alongside my wife and I, the packing was finished in just over four hours!! And the crew was ready to move onto a second job. Besides what is noted above, almost everything else made it intact. I was thankful for the help moving the heavy furniture and packing. With a little more care and a little less hurry the crew could do an amazing job, especially knowing I had already paid for the extra time.
